Participate in the 2009 Flamethrower Shooting Gallery
The Flamethrower Shooting Gallery is run entirely by volunteers.
Range crew are needed for a variety of roles, mostly on the Playa, and some before and after.

The Flamethrower Shooting Gallery has a number of different crew roles.
Please note that for any of the Operations roles (Gate, Range Safety, etc.) training on either Monday or Tuesday is required (unless you were trained last year or are only doing the fuel supply run) along with a commitment to at least least two shifts - one on your training day (Monday or Tuesday,) plus at least one other shift later in the week.
If you are available to help set up on Saturday and Sunday then we will arrange for you to be on the early-arrival list.
| Role | Description |
|---|---|
| Build Team / Setup | Helps setup the shooting gallery. Only people working on both Saturday and Sunday set up can get on the early-arrival list, and that list is limited in size, so please sign up early for these roles if you want them. |
| Captain of the Gate (aka Gate Captain) | In charge of the gate and the Gatekeepers. |
| Gatekeepers | Works the gate at the shooting gallery. Screens potential participants and perform initial orientation of shooters. Requires range safety training session. Two people needed each night of operations. |
| Feeding the Crew | Prepares and delivers dinner to the range crew. Two people needed each day. |
| Fuel Supply | Visits the DPW fuel supply during the daytime and draws 20 gallons of fuel. Fills several dozen fuel bottles and store at range. Two people needed each day of operation. |
| Range Master | Overall responsibility for the operation and safety of the range crew and participants. Must have permit issued by the Performance Safety Team. One person each day of operation. |
| Range Safety Officer | Responsible for guiding participants through the safe participation in the Flamethrower Shooting Gallery. Requires range safety training session. At least four people needed each night of operation. |
| Fuel Operator | Responsible for maintaining a steady supply of filled fuel bottles to the shooting table, and storing and refilling the empties. |
| Lighting & Sound | In charge of set up and operations of sound and lighting systems. Requires range safety training session. One person during setup and teardown and each night of operation. |
| Master of Ceremonies | Keeps the crowd informed of what's going on and generally amused. Selects possible participants from the audience for screening by the Gatekeepers. Requires range safety training session. One person each night of operation. Be prepared to talk loudly for several hours. We do have wireless microphones and an amplifier, but it is still something of a strain on the voice. |

Some crew positions require training and a multi-day commitment (any of the "Operations" roles) and some do not. All require people who are fun, hard-working, and creative.
